Hi OpenEd22!
printMe1.com is a simple PDF printing service based in the US and shipping to the US and Canada. A 200 page PDF printed bound, and shipped to a US address costs less than $20.
A few years ago, printMe1.com developed a free PDF hosting feature that's used to provide a low cost print option for OER that don't come with one. The feature provides a link to the PDF ready to print so it's easy to distribute to groups and doesn't require the end users to each upload the same PDF.
This PDF Hosting feature is also used by OER creators as a simple way to offer a permanent print option for PDF content that is shared in OER repositories like the Open Education Network, and other OER repositories. (Live example: https://www.printme1.com/preview/31a3c821 & see link at the bottom for more info.)
During this year's conference, I'd like to get some feedback on this idea:
We developed a print affiliate program for PDF creators. Similar to programs like Amazon Smile, our affiliate program pays a small commission to the creator/author out of price of a standard sale and is not an additional charge to the buyer.
printMe1.com's affiliate program is currently offered only to PDF authors, however, we can connect this affiliate feature with our hosted OER PDF's for any OER programs associated with a non-profit educational institution.
Combining these features will create a small recurring sustainability benefit to the department when the hosted PDF is printed.
We'd like to see if there is interest in developing a program like this for OER programs.
We'd appreciate any feedback on this, and also collect interest from any OER programs interested in participating in our initial testing of this program. Please use & share this form and we'll include you on any communications.
Contact us here to discuss.
